Set up the Windows app as an administrator
By the end you'll be signed in on Windows with two-factor on, and able to find any user in two keystrokes.
You need: a Substratal account with an administrator role (for example support or superadmin), and an authenticator app on your phone.
1. Install and open the app
Follow Install. Open Substratal from Start.
2. Sign in
- Keep Environment on Production.
- Enter your email and password, then press Enter.
- If you're asked for a code, enter the 6 digits from your authenticator app.
You land on Home. The navigation pane now shows Administration and, depending on your role, Developer.
3. Turn on two-factor if you haven't
If a banner says Two-factor authentication required, choose Turn on 2FA and follow Turn on two-factor authentication. Save the recovery codes somewhere other than this PC.
Administrator accounts without two-factor are the most valuable target an attacker can find. The banner stays until it's on.
4. Find a user in two keystrokes
- Press Ctrl+K.
- Type
usersand press Enter. Or press Ctrl+Shift+1 to jump straight there. - In Users, type part of a name or email. Results update as you type.
- Got a user ID from a ticket? Paste the whole
usr_…ID into Ctrl+K instead, and it opens that person directly.
5. Make it yours
- Settings → Appearance: pick a light and a dark theme, or Match Windows.
- Pin Substratal to the taskbar.
- Learn F1: it opens the help for whatever screen you're on.
