Notifications and push
Notifications come in two halves:
- The inbox is complete. It keeps every notification for 90 days, on every device.
- Push is best effort, per device. A missed push is still in your inbox.
Turn push on or off
Choose Account → Devices & notifications. Each device you've signed in on is listed: turn push on for this one, rename it, or remove it. Signing out of a device stops its pushes.
| Platform | Push |
|---|---|
| iPhone, iPad, Mac | Apple Push Notification service |
| Android | Firebase Cloud Messaging |
| Web | Web Push. On iPhone and iPad, only when the web app is added to the Home Screen. |
| Windows, Linux | No push service: the app checks every minute while it's running and shows a local notification |
Security alerts
Alerts beginning Security (a new sign-in, a password change, two-factor turned off) always come from Substratal itself. On iPhone and iPad they're time-sensitive, so they get through Focus modes. If you don't recognize one, open it and choose Secure my account.
Pushes never change anything
A notification never grants or removes access by itself. Tapping one opens the related screen, and everything there is fetched fresh.
